The estate POGGIO BORGONI draws its origin from the ancient land of Bishops of Florence and those of the Borromeo family arrived from Milan in the Chianti aerea in the sixteenth century. The marriage between these two components of the Florentine Renaissance aided the development of the district in agricultural and artistic terms.

Cultivation is now carried out by the owners Paolo Salvini and his son Francesco who have renewed the antique vineyards.
Assisted by experienced agronomists and enololgists, six hectares of vineyard in the Chianti Classico area have been replanted with the most traditional antique variety, Sangiovese, accompanied by complementary varieties.

The rocky terrain, the micro-climate and the favourable exposition of the grapes which are accurately managed in the cellar, have begun to produce an intense and harmonic Sangiovese wine, the singular product of the estate at present.

The antique varieties of beautifully named olives – Muraiolo Leccino, Pendulo produce an extra-virgin olive oil of exceptional quality with a fruity taste. These products can be tasted and purchased directly on the estate.
