The family estate located on the heights of Mittelwihr covers 10 hectares of hillside vineyards. The Zirgel family cultivates the vine on 4 grands crus and 5 different lieux-dits. They produce, condition and bottle their own harvest wines. These are wines of high expression, fruit of the union of famous terroirs, an exceptional microclimate and a long passionate work of winemakers.

The story begins in Mittelwihr, right after the war; Xavier BAUMANN and his wife Gabrielle create a large and functional vineyard. In 1975 their daughter Nicole and her husband Jean Jacques ZIRGEL take over the family business and develop the bottle sale. It is the beautiful complicity of Nicole and Jean Jacques that has transformed this family business into a model of quality and rigor.

Since 2001, their son Benjamin and Valérie, his wife, have joined the family winery to breathe new life into it and will take the leap from sustainable farming to organic farming.

Baumann-Zirgel has been certified organic since 2016 and is awaiting biodynamic certification in 2021. Most of the production is also certified vegan since 2021.
