The Querce Bettina estate belongs to Sandra Vilma Barenghi and Roberto Moretti and is located in Montalcino “Località La Casina di Mocali 275”. The house building was completed in 1995 while the cellars were finished in 2005.
The estate includes 1 hectare BrunelloDocg vineyard, 1,4 hectare “Rosso di Montalcino Doc” vineyard, an olive grove 1,5 hectare large with 530 olive trees of the leccino moraiolo and correggiolo varieties, 6.000 square metres of arable land next to the house and 24 hectares of pasture.
The vineyards were planted with Sangiovese Grosso ( Brunello) in 1999 according to a system called “ cordone speronato in unica direzione” at a distance of 2,5 metres between the rows and 80 cm. between each vine. At present there is one hectare registered for Brunello DOCG production and 1,35 for Rosso di Montalcino DOC. The first vintage was in 2002/03 and the current production amounts approximately to 9.000 bottles of Rosso di Montalcino DOC and 6.000 bottles of Brunello DOCG. The production of extra virgin oil was started in 1995. The farm itself is located at 440 metres above sea level on the southwest side of Montalcino, bordering the estates of Poggio Salvi, Bolsignano, Mocali and Zucca. The house offers breathless views towards Mount Amiata. The products of Querce Bettina are all processed within the estate by the owners themselves, with the help of a small team of skilled workers; an agronomist supervises continuously the vineyards and the oenologist Paolo Caciorgnia audits the whole wine-making process. The olive pressing takes place in Sant’Angelo in Colle at Poggioni mill equipped with modern state-of-the-art machinery Alfa Laval made, under the strict control of Sandra and Roberto.
