Simone Nannetti, with his wife, is the proud owner of the winery Cava d’Onice. Simone is from Montalcino and is very passionate about this land and committed to make the best wine possible, continuously improving his products in which he believes so much. He believes that his wines are the pure expression of the territory where the Sangiovese grape grew.
Simone has learned his trade from his father who has been a cellarman in a large winery in Montalcino for many years. He has followed carefully the process of Sangiovese in all its phases for several years, from early in the vineyard to the finished product. At the age of fourteen, he started working and gained farming experience in the vineyard, learning about the vines and growing cycle. He learned to treat them, to prune them, to do grafts. Then, for nine years, he worked in an important winery in Montalcino, supported by skilled workers, where he improved his techniques. A few years ago, he decided to grow his own grape and make his own wines.
