Description
The history of the estate began around the 17th century. Roger Champault continued the family adventure until Claude and Laurent took over in 1996. As forerunners, they equipped themselves with modern equipment (temperature-controlled vats, sorting tables, etc.) while preserving traditions. Planted on hillsides with renowned exposure and terroirs, the estate now covers some twenty hectares. Thanks to its efforts and quality wines, the 2008 white Sancerre “Les Pierris” cuvée was served at the wedding banquet for Princess Victoria of Sweden in June 2010.
Production: This wine comes from vines with an average age of 30 years, grown on a clay-limestone terroir composed of Kimmeridgian marl dating from the Upper Jurassic period, some 150 million years ago. The hand-harvested grapes are totally destemmed and undergo 8-10 days of maceration, resulting in a fruity wine. The wine is aged entirely in vats, guaranteeing the purity and authentic expression of the terroir.
Tasting notes: This wine is brightly colored. Its expressive nose reveals aromas of red fruits (raspberries, blackcurrants). The tannins are supple and full-bodied.
Pairings: cold meats, grilled meats, cheeses.
