Description
The name Masetto comes from the Latin “Mansum”, a building with adjoining farmland, which was given as a reward to Roman legionaries. Since 1885, this has been the site of the Endrizzi winery, expressing the Endrici family identity. It is the oldest wine of the Endrizzi family, created by Francesco Endrici, the winery’s founder, who decided to combine the darkest grape varieties to create a “Nero” wine.
Production: Before the grapes are harvested by hand, they are dried (Appassimento method) for around 15 days to achieve ideal sugar concentration while preserving the typical characteristics of the variety. The partially dried and fresh bunches are destemmed and the grapes are fermented in stainless steel vats. The marc is then separated from the new wine, which continues to age in stainless steel vats with programmed macro-oxygenation for a further 9 months. Finally, the wine is aged for 9 months in the bottle to achieve the best balance between the fruity notes of the grape variety and the vinous and spicy notes.
Tasting: Intense ruby red colour with purple hues. The notes of ripe cherries and red berries are well expressed. On the palate, it is elegant, soft, and full-bodied. Long, fresh and developing finish.
Pairings : Red meat dishes, roasts and venison.
Alcohol: 13%
Residual sugar: 6 g/l
