Description
The name Masetto comes from the Latin “Mansum”, a building with adjoining farmland, which was given as a reward to Roman legionaries. Since 1885, this has been the site of the Endrizzi winery, expressing the Endrici family identity. It is the oldest wine of the Endrizzi family, created by Francesco Endrici, the winery’s founder, who decided to combine the darkest grape varieties to create a “Nero” wine.
Production: After significant thinning of the bunches in summer, only grapes from the oldest vines are used for harvesting. Alcoholic fermentation with frequent racking, followed by 10 days of prolonged maceration and malolactic fermentation. Aged partly in barrels and partly in large wooden vats for around 18 months. Finally, aging in the bottle for about 6 months.
Tasting: Ruby red in color, this wine has an elegant, spicy, and complex bouquet, evoking blueberries, raspberries, cocoa, and vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and particularly harmonious, despite a marked tannic presence, with notable persistence.
Pairings : A particularly round and velvety wine, excellent with all meats and cheeses.
Alcohol: 13,5%
Residual sugar: 4 g/l
